CV

I currently have 2 different CV's saved on my laptop. One was for my auditions, made up solely of previous performing experience and training and all things image related that our teachers say we have to have on there! My other one, was one I made after moving home from London and applying for teaching assistant jobs in primary Schools. I was therefore unsure which one to post on my blog.

In the end, I went with a mixture of both, looking at it as my life now and how I want to proceed, which is in the teaching industry rather than the performing industry.
However, Id really appreciate some feedback on whether you think all info in there is necessary or too much?

    Definitely a good move combining the 2 CVs with the view of appealing to the teaching world; you want to show where you've come from and what experiences you've had.

    I would also suggest including the rest of your education, i.e GCSEs etc, as this will be important to schools.

    PS Next time you post a link to something within a post, if you click "Link" in the editing bar that appears when writing a post, you'll be able to actually embed the link so that people can click on it directly, rather than copying and pasting the URL

  2. Hi Mich,
    I had a problem with my CV as well, similar to yours. Over a few auditions I've re-written my CV several times and gradually lost more and more of the things we got told HAD to be on there!

    I like the way you've managed to combine the teaching and performing experience, while still being able to give a brief description of each job. One of the categories I dropped was the 'choreographers/teachers' one. If you're worried about it being too much, I think this is probably the least necessary paragraph, especially if you want to add in GCSEs as Liam says (which I agree is a good idea for schools).

  3. In my experience over the years, you need to add your skills appropriate for the job you are applying for. It's good to have a short personal statement highlighting you strengths for example use words such as; confident personality, excellent at priorotising, multitasking, articulate, Principle strenghts including leadership etc..or other words appropriate to you application. Adding your Eduactional qualifications gained is a requirement by any future employee whatever your age..

  4. thanks so much for these comments. I've noted them down and will re write it, and this time ill 'link' it as Liam suggested. I didnt realise that Liam so thanks for that! I wass wandering how others were doing it, I think i was hoping that if I copied and pasted the link, it would highlight on my page somehow!!

    Corinda, thank you for your examples of different words to use to highlight my strengths and how to get them across, I will defiantly be slotting them in somewhere!

    And, Aicha, its so strange isnt it, I wander how similar all of our CV's would have looked upon leaving Hammond, and how different they will all look now. Not just from the different jobs and paths people have taken, but from being in the 'real' world and reworking them to be more personal to each of us!
